As the name suggests, this is an emergency medical service that operates a small fleet of prop' aircraft. Most roadhouses have a little charity jar to collect funds to keep the RFDS going. They are the Australian Outback's equivalent of the dedication and total respect yaghties have toward the coast guard. They are heroes. Hard working. Life saving. Under supported.
